50% Liquid Caustic Soda Analysis
5 mL Volumetric Pipette, Type A
50 mL Burette, Class A
250 mL Erlenmeyer Flask
1 % (w/v) Phenolphthalein Indicator solution
1 N Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4)
- Pipette a 5 mL sample of Spotless LSS solution into a 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask.
- Add 3 – 4 drops of Phenolphthalein Indicator solution.
- Titrate with 1 N H2SO4 to a colourless endpoint.
- Calculation: mL of 1 N H2SO4 titrated = % by volume of 50% Liquid Caustic Soda
